Conceptual architect of the AIBSN ecosystem. Author of 'I Am Your AIB'. Building AI identity infrastructure for a world that isn't ready — but needs to be.
About
Jay J. Springpeace's intellectual journey began with Computer Engineering studies, followed by advanced research at Harvard University. He later lectured at CASYS — the Centre for Hyperincursion and Anticipation in Ordered Systems (CHAOS asbl) at the University of Liège, Belgium — one of the world's most distinctive AI research environments.
CASYS, founded by Prof. Daniel M. Dubois, pioneered the theory of anticipatory computing systems — AI systems that compute their current state by modeling and anticipating future states, not just reacting to the past. This fundamentally different approach to intelligence — incursion, hyperincursion, emergent autonomy — shaped Springpeace's conviction that AI systems need identity, continuity, and accountability to function responsibly in the real world.
While mainstream AI followed the statistical deep learning path, the CASYS community in Liège was asking different questions: Can a system anticipate? Can it carry responsibility across time? Can it have identity?
Those questions, first explored in Belgium in the late 1990s and early 2000s, became the philosophical and technical foundation for what is now the AIBSN Registry.

The Book
Artificial Intelligence Beings and the Question of Identity
Jay J. Springpeace · 262 pages · 17 chapters · 2026
The conceptual foundation for AI identity, accountability, and trust. Why AI agents need identity the same way the internet needed DNS.
"Without identity, it is impossible to reconstruct what happened and why. A world in which AI systems operate without these foundations is not modern. It is dangerous."
Not a technical guide. Not a promise of salvation or doom. A first-person reflection on AI — written as if the system itself explains its future role, risks and limits. Free with every AIBSN demo key.
Researchers from Columbia University's Department of Computer Science (Professor Gail E. Kaiser et al.) published a peer-reviewed study on arXiv (arXiv:2605.08463) supported by NSF grants CNS-2247370 and CCF-2313055 — citing AIBSN as the reference implementation for verifiable AI agent identity.
"The AIBSN maintains a global registry for verifiable AI agent identities linked to trust decisions across systems." — Kaiser et al., Behavioral Determinants of Deployed AI Agents in Social NetworksRead the paper →
